“YOU ARE THE POEM I NEVER KNEW HOW TO WRITE AND THIS LIFE IS THE STORY I HAVE ALWAYS WANTED TO TELL”
– TYLER KHOTT GREGSON
After months of anticipation and waiting, your beautiful newborn is finally here! I could not be more thrilled for you and your family. The birth of a little one brings so much joy and renewal to our lives. Your newborn session will take place in your home, and will have a more relaxed, lifestyle feel than a traditional studio session. I will capture your family and your newborn as you interact and cuddle your little one. I do try and get a few posed shots, and will bring a few minimal props for those setups, but otherwise this is a lifestyle inspired session.
When to Schedule:
It is best to contact me 1-2 months before your due date, so I can be sure to get you into my schedule. Because newborns like to make the rules and don’t care what their due date is, we won’t be able to set a true date for your session until after your little one is born. Because my newborn sessions are easy going and relaxed, anytime within the first 3 weeks of birth is a great time to schedule your session after they are born.
What to Wear:
During your Newborn & You session, wear what you are comfortable in. A top that is easy to nurse in, comfy yoga pants (especially if you have had a cesarian section), or even your favorite necklace. Because these take place in your home, I suggest wearing complimentary colors/styles to the decor of your home. If you are being photographed with your husband/ partner or other children, wear coordinating colors, but nothing too matchy-matchy. And as always, try and avoid wearing all black and bright white.
A Little Bit of Advice:
Before your session, decide which rooms you would like to be photographed in. I suggest the main living area, the master suite, and the nursery. Open up any window coverings to allow the most natural light to get in. Tidy up any items you don’t want photographed, but because these are lifestyle inspired sessions, a deep clean isn’t necessary. If you have older kids, be sure they have been fed and are ready to go. Fed kids are happy kids. Happy kids make photo shoots go smoothly. And most importantly, have fun!
