I had the pleasure of photographing Mr. Max less than 24 hours after his birth for his Freshly Born session. Surrounded by so much love already, and with big sister Vallencia ready to show him the ropes, Max is in for the time of his life. Even Grandma was there to shower him with snuggles 🙂 I know this sweet family as they are repeat clients of mine, and I was thrilled when mom Yana booked me for Max’s Freshly Born session. He has so much dark hair like his sister and is already a very handsome little man. I cannot wait to watch him grow up in front of my lens 🙂
Hands down these are one of my favorite types of sessions to do, and let me explain why. Almost 5 years ago when I was at the hospital giving birth to my own daughter, I ended up having a cesarian section which turned everything inside out for me. I don’t remember my daughter being born because of all the medication, she was never laid on my chest for that immediate bonding that is so important, and the first time I held her I ended up passing out seconds into it. And nursing her never happened because of the excruciating pain I was in: I avoided taking any of the pain killers in hopes that I could stay alert long enough to hold her. I had no idea what bonding with my newborn was supposed to be like, because I was so emotionally damaged from those 5 extremely tough days at the hospital, and I carried that with me for a long time. It took me a good 3 weeks to recover from the cesarian, and even then I was so wrecked that taking pictures wasn’t on my priority list and we never hired a newborn photographer. I think I can honestly say I didn’t feel that true bond until she was about 9 months old.
The reason why these sessions are so important to me is because I want everyone, no matter what your birth story is, to remember those first few days with your newborn in full detail. I would give anything to go back and have memories of what Reese’s hair looked like, how wrinkly her feet were, how tiny her nose was, and how she looked in my arms. If you are interested in booking your Freshly Born session, contact me now. I would love to be able to give you these incredible memories.
Welcome to the world Mr. Max!
